Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is a leading pediatric and adolescent hospital. With continual growth in business users for its PeopleSoft ERP and HCM applications on the conventional Oracle Database Service on OCI, CHLA needed to increase performance and availability to improve the user experience. After upgrading to Oracle Autonomous Database on OCI, which is optimized to run transactional, analytical, and batch workloads concurrently, CHLA  gained double-digit performance improvements and improved availability. Time saved refreshing employment demographic data increased 98%, from 12 minutes to 16 seconds, while a concurrent payroll processing job improved by 78%, from 1 hour to only 13 minutes. Oracle Customer Success Services assisted CHLA with full lifecycle management for PeopleSoft, including system upgrades, 24/7 support, patching, and help with day-to-day administrative tasks to boost productivity and customer satisfaction.
