Issue with OTBI agents

Hello Oracle Community,

A client has been encountering an issue with their OTBI agents, which have been running smoothly for the past few years. Recently, the agents no longer run automatically unless they are logged in. When they open OTBI and manually trigger the agent, it runs perfectly, but unless they are logged in and actively watching the process, the agents do not execute as expected.

The client has already tried troubleshooting with the following steps:

  • Verified the agent schedule and ownership settings.
  • Ensured that the agent’s associated user account has the necessary permissions.
  • Checked if the agents are set to run autonomously (independent of a logged-in session).
  • Tested the delivery profile for issues.
  • Cleared the browser cache and tested with a different browser.

Despite these efforts, the issue persists. Has anyone experienced something similar or can provide further guidance on what could be causing this? Any documentation or suggestions would be appreciated!

    One question:

    Has the customer tried creating a new schedule with a new name and see if it is working fine?

    (Just thinking in case the schedule itself got corrupted or not working somehow….)

    The customer created a completely new bot with a different name and schedule from the previous one. It ran successfully on Saturday and Sunday but did not execute this morning. We are also seeking additional help or thoughts on this.

    Hi @Basti,

    As the OTBI agent log is not available to the users, probably it's a good idea to raise an SR with Oracle support to investigate the Root Cause. Oracle Support will have access to those Agent logs in the Server and they will be able to suggest better.

    Try the below:

    1. Session Dependency Issue

    Some OTBI agents may be tied to an active session. Check if the agent is configured to run asynchronously rather than requiring an active user session.

    1. Authentication & Security Settings

    If recent security updates were applied, they might be preventing agents from running in the background. Verify if any Single Sign-On (SSO) or authentication changes have affected scheduled processes.

    3.Agent Ownership & Permissions

    Even though you've checked permissions, try reassigning the agent to a different user with full access and test if it runs automatically.
